A very loud howler monkey

Roadside pizote

garrobo - lizards were everywhere

Relaxing at our second house, Casa Cocha

That is a real scorpion!  Needless to say, I didn't sleep well that night.

Pochote Tree

Pochote flowers - We found out from Christobal and Marlene that they are edible.  Will and Claire made us a salad out of them.  My portion has a bit too much hot sauce.

Saying goodbye to Marlene and Angelina:(

To keep the dust down on the roads, molasses is thrown down in buckets.   One of the drawbacks was when Will got his flip flop stuck in the syrup and skinned his toe.

Our shuttle drivers home.  Grandma and Grandpa picked us up at Newark with a bag full of warm clothes.  Thank goodness as it was 93 in Costa Rica and dropping below 20 here.

Will and Claire are so happy to see Grandpa and Grandma.  It was a long trip!

Tia Donna is here!

Time has been passing so quickly here.  Mainly all we do is swim and watch the trees that are full of monkeys.   After seeing many on our walk to and from the beach, we came home to find a good twelve or so in the trees above our house.  Now we know that it just means that at 5 am there will be too much noise to sleep peacefully.   Howler monkeys, although very cute, are not great neighbors in that regard.

Tomorrow we leave this house and head to another.  A new adventure will begin as Aunt Donna decided it was time for her to join us here.  We can't wait to show her around.

Some of Claire's Art

First monkey sighting!

As we were approaching our house  at dusk, we heard some howler monkeys.  Luckily, they were right in our courtyard in the Guanacaste tree. It was too dark for photos, but we were able to see two monkeys and one had a baby on its back!  They make such crazy loud interesting sounds.  They must have slept in that tree because this morning at five they were talking again and then disappeared before the sun came up.  Hopefully we will spot some in the daylight.

We have arrived in Costa Rica!

> We decided to end our grand tour of the US with a trip to Central America. We are on the Nicoyan peninsula on the Pacific Ocean. We are staying near Nosara in a town named Playa Guiones.  Being we just booked this trip a few days ago and this is the busy season here,  we are staying in a big beautiful 3 bedroom house which is what was available.  Of course we all slept in the same room last night leaving beds for six open. If anyone wants to book a last minute trip to Nosara, come and join us.

Leaving Colorado

The kids are real Keystone fans.  We ended the trip there with a little ice skating and tour of the ice sculptures around the rink.

Skiing at Keystone

Will and Claire became great skiers during this vacation.  They enjoyed every minute on the hill.

Fun Times with Colorado Cousins

Will and Claire had a great couple of days catching up with Ben and Lily.    They both wished they could see them all of the time.

The OK Corral - Yes, that was really the name

We figured that we had to go horseback riding at least once while we were in the Southwest.  We had a fun ride through the Saguaro desert in Apache Junction, Arizona.

We took Buster, Petunia, Ike and Cesar out for a ride.
